Those of you who know me probably have my wardrobe memorized. I'm very predictable, with a touch of "plain jane" if you will. I'm not quite sure of my reasons for this...maybe it is because my life stays as chaotic and unpredictable as I can possibly have it, so my wardrobe provides a small source of stability. Ok, probably not. But last week I decided it was time to spice things up a bit. Stacy and I were out shopping and I found the perfect pair of red shoes. After getting the thumbs up from my fashionista sister (I tell her that she is the only thing that keeps me off of "what not to wear"), I made my big purchase. And then I came home and did the most logical thing possible--photographed the heck out of them.
Are you a young professional in the Birmingham area? Are you looking to get plugged in and raise some $$$ for a good cause? If so, then check out YP Birmingham at www.ypbirmingham.com. Each month, the young professionals of Birmingham get creative to raise funds for some very important charities. This month YP hosted the "Gatsby Get Down" to raise awareness and funds for Hopeline, an initiative of Verizon Wireless to prevent domestic violence. Hopeline collects wireless phones and recycles/reuses them, donating the proceeds to victims of domestic violence and to nonprofit advocacy agencies. So last Thursday night the yp's of Birmingham donned their 20's garb, brought a used cell phone, and enjoyed live jazz music at the local Speakeasy.
Warm. That is the first word that comes to mind when I think of the Molloy family. I spent 30 minutes with them in our "mini session" yesterday, but felt like I had known them for years when I left. I couldn't stop talking about little Hayden when I got home--I've never seen a two year old that is so polite and intelligent. And so articulate! At one point during the shoot, he pointed and said, "Mommy, that looks like an octagon!" Have you ever heard a two year old use the word octagon?! I was amazed. Amy and Michael are so loving and attentive--you can tell in moment that they are wonderful parents. I was so blessed by my time with the Molloys.
We had the Sharp's over for Ty's birthday Monday night. What fun!! We ate dinner, hung out, watched the boys play video games, listened to Adam play the "fat lady" song....it was a good night. Only after the Sharps left did I realize that we did not actually get Ty a present for his birthday! I guess in all my excitement, I forgot to get a gift. So sorry Ty! Thanks for spending part of your birthday at our little house.
I took both of these images several weeks ago, and for some reason have just hesitated to put them up on the blog. It had been so long since I just went out and shot for the love of shooting....the practical side of me demanded that I spend my time only on things I deemed productive. I'm realizing more and more that I have to keep the flame alive, if you know what I mean. I have to shoot for myself because I LOVE IT. That is the only thing that will keep me loving it for years to come. So I'm not really worried about whether these images appear good or bad, mediocre or not. I shot and posted them because I had to.
I'm about to head to bed, but just wanted to throw a few pictures up on the blog for old times' sake :). I've been out of town with my husband of 1 year (I can't believe it's been a whole year! how time flies!), and haven't had time to post. Here goes....
